Four Months After, Man Shot By Customs Officers In Ibadan Demands Justice, Compensation

By Admin  -  July 25, 2020  Four months after he was shot by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service Oyo/Osun Command, Mr Emiola Tunde is seeking for justice and compensation. aibnetwork.blogspot.com recalls that in March, four people were shot by some customs officers in Ibadan when a crisis broke out between them and commercial motorcyclists Ijokodo-Apete Road in Ibadan. PREMIUM TIMES reported that the four people, who were plying the road at the time the fight happened, were immediately taken to the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan for medical attention.Three of them later lost their lives despite the medical intervention. However, Mr. Emiola the only survivor has called on Nigerians including its political leaders to save him from permanent incapacitation due to the wounds he sustained. Residents Doctors Threaten To Resume Strike, Give FG Three Weeks Ultimatum

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors on Saturday said it will resume its suspended nationwide strike in three weeks if the Federal Government fails to meet its demands. President of the Association, Aliyu Sokomba, revealed this to journalists in a press conference in Abuja. NARD had, on June 22, suspended its nationwide strike, after a virtual meeting of over 300 of its members. Sokomba, at the time, said the association suspended the strike in order to give the Federal and State Governments time to fulfill its outstanding demands. The association declared an indefinite strike on June 15 over several demands including the provision of adequate PPE for all healthcare workers and immediate reversal of the disengagement of all 26 resident doctors at the University Teaching Hospital in Jos, the Plateau State capital. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami   The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, on Saturday ordered the suspension of an increase in license fees for courier and logistic services planned by the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST). “Our attention has been drawn to an increase of licence fee, which was not part of the regulation I earlier APPROVED for you,” Pantami said via his verified Twitter profile. “Your Chair and PMG were YESTERDAY contacted to put the implementation on hold and send a report to our ministry by Monday. The Nigeria Police Force said Wyclef, whose real name is Ope Owoeye, was arrested alongside Corporal Aiyedun Akeem. Before the latest arrests, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Tijani Olatunji and Inspector Gboyega Oyeniyi had earlier been arrested for their involvement in the act which drew the ire of many Nigerians on the social media. According to the number released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Friday night, the state has the highest cases for the day with 191 while Lagos trailed with 168 cases. Man Bags 20 Years Jail Term For $22,300 Fraud In Ibadan.

By Admin  -  July 24, 2020  A 30-year-old fraudster, Gabriel Adekola Oluokun, was on Thursday July 23, 2020, sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State for defrauding a Taiwanese to the tune of $22,300 (Twenty-Two Thousand, Three Hundred United States Dollars). The convict was prosecuted by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a six-count amended charge of obtaining money by false pretence for which he was found guilty and convicted. Oluokun’s journey to prison started when the Commission received a petition from one Nduka Lucious in which he alleged that the convict collected the sum of $22,300 from him in three instalments on the agreement that he will supply 100 metric tonnes of sesame seed to one Victoria Xhung, a China-based Taiwanese businesswoman, whom the petitioner represents in Nigeria. Channels TV/Benjamin Oluwatoyin.     Oyo State on Thursday reported  eighty – seven  new COVID-19 cases as Nigeria’s infections stood at 38,948.  This is according to a tweet by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) which noted that the country had six hundred and four (604) fresh cases of the virus for the day. The data from the NCDC further showed that the latest COVID-19 infections were reported in twenty states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with Lagos State, the country’s epicentre for the disease, having the highest number of infected people – 203.
