  Tanzanian police have charged 23 people with murder after seven villagers were burned alive on suspicion of witchcraft. Though the attacks in Murufiti, a village in the western Kigoma region, happened on Monday, reports only surfaced with the arrests. Five of those killed were aged over 60, the other two were over 40. A Tanzanian human rights group estimates that 500 suspected witches are killed in Tanzania annually. The suspects were arraigned in court on Friday and accused of murder. They remain in custody. Of the detained, at least one is a local leader, according to Kigoma police commander Jafari Mohammed. Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has  mourned  the death of General Benjamin Adekunle (rtd), saying his exit would  leave vacuum very difficult to fill. Obasanjo who described Adekunle as a “friend, colleague and course mate,” said his contribution during the nation’s three years civil war was a no mean effort, which would also be remembered for long a time. In a statement on Saturday  by the former President who also witnessed the surrender of Biafran soldiers to the Federal troops, signalling the end of the war, he said Adekunle achieved much while they were both undergoing a military course in Ghana. Twitter announced this saying it has partnered with news organization, Al Arabiya, to keep Muslim Twitter users informed of Ramadan. Muslims worldwide can maximize social media tool, Twitter, to aide their religious Ramadan fast which is expected to commence on Saturday or Sunday. With the use of Twitter, Muslims can know the time for iftar (for the breaking of the fast) and Imsak (for beginning the fast) in their respective countries. Twitter announced this saying it has partnered with news organization, Al Arabiya, to keep Muslim Twitter users informed of Ramadan. According to Twitter, users simply tweet @AlArabiya with #iftar (for the breaking of the fast) or #imsak (for beginning the fast) followed by the name of their city with a # in front (e.g. #Lagos), and the @ AlArabiya account will reply with the correct time.
