 BY    Admin  AUGUST 5, 2020 An end to the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) might be in the offing as the federal government is reportedly set to resume talks with the leadership of the union. ASUU had in March declared an indefinite strike, citing the federal government’s failure to meet its demands. The industrial action was on the back of  disagreement with the government over issues on revitalization of universities and earned academic allowance. Other issues raised by the union had included the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) as well as funding of universities. But  according to THISDAY , the federal government has resolved to write a letter to the union’s leadership to continue negotiations before the end of the week. Eesuola Amidu Babatunde as chairman of the board of Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency, CSDA. Eesuola represented Atiba state constituency between 2003 and 2007 in the Oyo State House of Assembly. His appointment takes effect from Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

The Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) disclosed this in a memo in Abuja on Wednesday. The memo, which was signed by Mohammed Bello, manager, sales, PPMC, also disclosed that the new prices will come into effect from August 5, 2020. The ex-depot price is the price at which depot owners sell the commodity to retail outlets. Marketers would likely add cost of transporting the commodity from the depots to their retail outlets, in addition to other costs, such as marketers’ margin, among others. PPMC, which is the downstream subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), put the ex-coastal price of the commodity, which is the price at which the product is sold to depot owners, at N113.70 per litre. By     IBNET Admin -   August 5, 2020 Petroleum stations across Nigeria will now sell premium motor spirit at N148.5 per liter as from this morning. IBNET  had observed early Wednesday morning that many petrol stations in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were under lock and keys. Speaking on the condition of anonymity with a source close to the leadership of the petroleum-related unions, he said the new price became necessary following the N6 added to the purchasing price by the federal government. “So we also added N5 to the N143.8 we were selling before. Initially, we were confused as to to how much we would be selling. That was why we did not open early.”

Gbadebo was a factory worker with Expand Global Industries and its sister company,Henkel Nigeria Limited,who allegedly slumped and died on the morning of July 28 while working as a shift worker at the plant of the company’s Ibadan plant. According to the lawyers,the company was callous and negligent in providing adequate security measures in the plant which led to the death of the deceased while it also refused to provide the family with details of the death there by causing additional grief to the family.
