Fuel supply threatened as oil workers join strike The supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country are under threat as the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Association have joined the strike ordered by the Nigeria Labour Congress. The NLC on Wednesday directed all its members and affiliate unions to commence a nationwide strike on Thursday, following the failure of a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment , Chris Ngige, in Abuja on Wednesday , to produce the expected outcome. The NLC President , Ayuba Wabba , said the industrial action would commence due to the refusal of the Federal Government to reconvene the meeting of the Tripartite National Minimum Wage Committee to enable it to conclude its work. A NUPENG spokesperson, Mr Adamson Momoh, told one of our correspondents on Thursday, “ We are part of the United Labour Congress; so , any decision that they take, we will abide by it. ”

APC NWC disqualifies Shittu over NYSC scandal, postpones primary The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has disqualified the Minister of Communications , Adebayo Shittu, from contesting Saturday’ s Oyo State APC governorship primary. Shittu was disqualified for failing to participate in the mandatory one year National Youth Service scheme at the time he graduated from the university. He was 25 years old at the time and was eligible to participate . The party, however , cleared Lagos State Governor , Akinwumi Ambode , and his two challengers, Obafemi Hamzat and Jide Sanwo -Olu. This was contained in a report of the screening committee released in Abuja on Thursday night. The list, which had a state by state breakdown of those cleared, also listed Chief Christopher Alao Akala , as one of those cleared to contest in Oyo State . Strike: NLC declares total shutdown; asks banks, schools, others to join September 26, 2018 Agunbiade Ibrahim The Nigeria Labour Congress has called on all its members and affiliate unions to join its nationwide strike. The NLC said the strike was called due to the refusal of the federal government to reconvene the meeting of the tripartite national minimum wage committee to enable it conclude its work. The NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, said this while briefing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday. According to him, the strike will commence from midnight of September 26. “In compliance with this mandate, all workers and private sector at all levels across the country have been directed to comply. “All public and private institutions, offices, banks, schools, public and private business premises including filling station are to remain shut till further noticed,” he said. Labour reminded Nigerians that the 14-day ultimatum issued to the federal government expires September 26 and urged them to be prepared. Mr. Joe Ajaero, President, United Labour Congress (ULC), said this in a communiqué issued after its meeting on Monday in Lagos. COMMUNIQUE AT THE END OF AN EMERGENCY CENTRAL WORKING COMMITTEE (CWC) MEETING OF THE UNITED LABOUR CONGRESS OF NIGERIA (ULC) HELD ON MONDAY, THE 24TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2018 AT EBUTTE METTA, LAGOS We have invited you here today gentlemen of the Press to inform you that after the deliberations of the CWC-in-session on the unfortunate protracted and belated national minimum wage negotiation with the Government within the context of the joint Press Conference addressed by the  Organised Labour in Nigeria on the 12th of September and the events that ensued, we have painfully come to the following conclusions: 1.
