Shorunmu Narrates How Ex-3SC Defender, Ajibade, Died At UCH Gate

By Ibrahim Agunbiade   Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu has narrated how Ex-3SC defender, Ajibade Babajide died at the gate of the University College Hospital after a private hospital in Ibadan declined treating him. We had earlier reported that Babalade, 48 , died while being rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan on Friday. According to Shorunmu , Babalade’ s teammate at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal , the former footballer died at the gate of UCH after suffering cardiac arrest. He stated that the former Shooting Stars Team Manager was denied treatment by the first hospital he was taken to , before he was referred to UCH. “ The first hospital he was rushed to in Ibadan , he was rejected by the doctors and referred to the University College Hospital . But on his arrival at the UCH premises, he gave up the ghost at the gate . Resident Doctors To Embark On Indefinite Nationwide Strike From Monday

By Ibrahim Agunbiade Logo of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).   The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced that it would embark on an indefinite nationwide strike from Monday. The National Executive Council of the resident doctors announced this as part of its resolutions after a virtual meeting held on Wednesday. The meeting which was attended by over 200 doctors – NOC, NEC, Past Presidents, Caucus leaders, Committee Chairmen, and observers, was held to review the 21-day ultimatum issued to government which elapsed on August 17. The NEC noted that in spite of the inclusion of the residency funding in the revised 2020 budget, the government has not made plans to implement the payment after several promises by stakeholders. By Admin  It was with sheer hope and enthusiasm of being freed from the gruelling webs of unemployment via a meritorious recruitment process that over 65 thousand applicants came out in droves to write the Oyo Tescom CBT exam which took place within the weeks of August 2020. The University of Ibadan distance learning center, Ajibode was filled to the brim and almost spilling over with crowd who took turns to write their tests. The job application was extended to all qualified residents of the state willing to seek employment as teachers in government owned secondary schools.   The CBT exercise was not meant to be a walk in the park for the 65 thousand applicants as the state government only advertised 7 thousand vacancies. Honeybee venom can kill aggressive breast cancer cells, says study

BY NEWS AGENCY A potent compound extracted from the venom of honeybees can quickly destroy 100 per cent of aggressive breast cancer cells with minimal harm to normal cells, a new study has revealed. The study, carried out by the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in Western Australia, was published in  Nature , a peer-reviewed scientific journal, on Tuesday. By Ibrahim Agunbiade    The Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) has increased the price of petrol from N138.62 per litre to N151.56 per litre.  The PPMC, which is a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), announced the new price in a memo to industry stakeholders. ”Please be informed that a new product price adjustment has been effected on our payment platform,” it said. ”To this end the price of premium motor spirit (PMS) is now one hundred and fifty one naira, fifty six kobo (N151.56) per litre. ”This is effective 2nd September, 2o2o.”

NITDA To Extend NAVSA Programme To All States – Kashifu Abdullahi

By Ibrahim Agunbiade        The Director General, National Information technology Development Agency, (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi has reaffirmed the commitment of the Agency to extend the National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture, (NAVSA) to other states in the country. The DG disclosed this on Tueday when he played host to the Management of Jigawa Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (JICCIMA) at the Agency’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. Mallam Abdullahi stated that NAVSA remains one of the success stories of the Agency in the state it has been piloted and implemented and” the Agency would ensure that the programme covers all the 36 states of the federation. The National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture (NAVSA), which is an initiative of the Agency is to create a digital database for farmers where they can buy and sell their farm produce. JUST IN: UI Announces Date for Post-UTME Registration

By  Ibrahim Agunbiade The Premier University, University of Ibadan, Ibadan has announced that the Post-UTME registration for prospective candidates will commence on Monday, 7th September, 2020. This was contained in a statement released by the Registrar of the institution, Olubunmi O. Faluyi on the institution’s website on Monday. According to her, the registration will be available for candidates who scored 200 and above in the 2020 UTME and candidates are advised to pay attention to instructions.   It reads “This is to inform candidates who made the University of Ibadan their institution of first choice and scored 200 and above in the 2020 UTME that the University website will be open from Monday, 07 September, 2020 to Friday, 16 October, 2020 “Instructions for the registration will be available on the admission portal @  https://www.admission.ui.edu.ng  from Monday 07 September 2020. By   Admin The chairman of Oyo State Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Mr. Akinade Alamu has revealed that only 10 percent of applicants who sat for the CBT examinations to recruit new post-primary school teachers in the state scored above fifty percent. Alamu revealed this on Monday while speaking on Ibadan-based radio station, Fresh FM.   AIBNETWORK  recalls that the result of those who sat for the test was released on August 29. Speaking further, Alamu lamented that the TESCOM board is confused about how to carry out the recruitment exercise due to the poor performance of applicants. He also stated that some stakeholders have advised the board to recruit applicants and grade them based on the subject they would teach.
