  The Senate of the University of Ibadan, on Friday, held an emergency meeting to address issues of alleged discrepancies and malpractice in the recently held election of two Senate Representatives on the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board for the Appointment of the New Vice-Chancellor. IBNET recalls that two of the candidates who participated in the election, Prof. A. O. Dasylva and Prof. A. A. Fasanmade, petitioned the Governing Council of the institution calling for a cancellation of the election. A statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Senate, Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi, indicated that the meeting which was held at the instance of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Nde Joshua Waklek Mutka, mni, had 301 members of Senate in attendance. “The Chairman of Council had directed Senate to examine the petitions of Prof. A.O.Dasylva of the Department of English, Faculty of Arts and Prof. A. Six Months After, UI Central Mosque Resumes Jum'ah Service

  The Muslim Committee of the University of Ibadan, Ibadan has announced the resumption of Juma’at Service after it was suspended since 9th March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic which hit the world at that period. In a statement signed by the Chief Imam, Professor Oloyede AbdulRahman, the Juma’at service is expected to resume from Friday, October 9, 2020, with strict compliance to COVID-19 guidelines. MURIC CHIDES OGUN GOVERNOR OVER BB NAIJA GIFTS

            The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, yesterday 7 th  October, 2020, gave a bungalow and N5 million cash gifts to the winner of Big Brother Naija, Moshood Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba. He also appointed him the Ambassador of the Youth in Ogun State.     However, the Nigerian Islamic human rights organization, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has described Governor Abiodun’s action as disappointing, disgusting, misplaced and myopic. RESTRUCTURING: MUSLIMS SEEK SIX RELIEFS – MURIC

    Sequel to the clamour for restructuring Nigeria, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has reminded the Federal Government and the general public of the six reliefs it enumerated and demanded for Nigerian Muslims since October, 2017.     The six reliefs were revisited in a press statement issued by the Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Tuesday, 5 th  October, 2020, exactly three years later.     The statement reads:   “We demanded six reliefs on behalf of Nigerian Muslims exactly three years ago.
