MURIC LAUDS ABIODUN FOR REWARDING LASU BEST STUDENT

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, recently gave the best graduating student of the Lagos State University (LASU), Oladimeji Shotunde, an indigene of the state, a two-bedroom bundgalow and N2 million cash on behalf of the state government. The gifts were presented at a ceremony in which the state government celebrated twenty three (23) outstanding teachers and learners of the state tagged ‘Ogun Academic Laureates 2021’.     Meanwhile an Islamic human rights advocacy group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended the governor for this action. The group spoke on Thursday 29 th  April, 2021 through its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.     “This is quite laudable. Governor Abiodun is giving priority to academic pursuits. PANTAMI: ALLOW NIGERIA TO MOVE ON – MURIC

Sequel to the furore over past pronouncements of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami and the confidence-imbuing statement issued on him by the presidency, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on Nigerians to allow the country to move on.     The call was made on Tuesday 27 th  April, 2021 by MURIC’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in a statement circulated to the media.   MURIC said:   “In a tweet dispatched yesterday 26 th  April, 2021,  Dr. Ben Gbenro (@bengbenro) opened another vista to the Pantami discourse. ‘A Christian minister bailed Boko Haram founder thrice’ — NSCIA hits CAN over Pantami

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has described Isa Pantami, minister of communications and digital economy, as a man of peace and integrity. There have been calls for the minister to resign over his past comments in support of terror groups like Al-Qaeda. Although, the minister had since said he made those comments when he was younger and now his views have changed, some Nigerians have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack him. Samuel Ayokunle, national president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), had also called for an investigation into the controversy surrounding the minister. But Salisu Shehu, deputy secretary-general of NSCIA, in a statement, said those calling for the minister to be sanctioned, including CAN, were out for mischief.
