MURIC TO OYO GOVT : INVESTIGATE ASSAULT ON LAUTECH MUSLIM LADY

  A female Muslim student of the Online Distance Learning of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Oyo State, had her niqab (veil) brutally pulled off from behind by an official of the institution on Wednesday, 17 th November, 2021. The incident occurred in public during the semester’s face-to-face interaction. MASSACRE OF MUSLIMS AT RUKUBA, JOS: CHRISTIAN TERRORISTS MUST BE ROUNDED UP – MURIC

  Twenty two (22) unarmed Muslim travellers were killed by a Christian militia group at Rukaba, Jos, Plateau State on Saturday, 14 th  August, 2021. The swift response of security agents led to the arrest of six of the attackers at the scene. Meanwhile the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called for the immediate rounding up of all members of the Christian militia in Jos.     MURIC made the call in a statement issued on Saturday evening, 14 th  August, 2021. 2023: MURIC REACTS TO CAN’S CALL FOR CHRISTIAN PRESIDENT

Nigeria’s Muslim human rights group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has reacted to a recent statement issued by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in which it called for a Christian president for Nigeria by 2023. MURIC said while it is not opposed to the idea of a Christian president for Nigeria, CAN must wait for its turn.     MURIC spoke via its director and founder, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Monday, 2 nd  August, 2023. MURIC APPEALS FOR CALM AFTER AFENIFERE REFUTES STORY

The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, yesterday refuted the report making the rounds that it compared Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a. Igboho. MURIC TO AFENIFERE : APOLOGISE FOR YOUR ILL-ADVISED COMPARISON

Nigeria’s Muslim human rights group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has demanded unreserved apology from Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-cultural group,  comparing Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Igboho, to Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Afenifere had compared Igboho’s current travail in Benin Republic to that of Prophet Muhammad in Madinah.     In a press release issued by the director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the human rights group said Afenifere’s statement was not only sacriledgious but outrageous and audacious. CALL POWER APOSTOLIC CHURCH INT’L TO ORDER – MURIC

The Power Apostolic Church International, Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State, is planning the official inauguration of the Yoruba Nation Christian Association (YORNCA). The event is billed to take place on Wednesday, 28 th  July, 2021.     However, the Nigerian Islamic human rights organisation, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has kicked against the inauguration. According to MURIC, such an act will give the impression that the agitation for the establishment of a Yoruba nation is a Christian agenda. MAKINDE LIED : MUSLIMS BOUGHT MOSQUE LAND - MURIC

An Islamic human rights outfit, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has debunked the claim made by the Governor of Oyo State, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, that Bodija Mosque was built on part of the land earmarked for the recreation centre. The Governor of Oyo State, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, has reportedly earmarked the Muslim ‘Id praying ground situated at Bodija, Ibadan, for the construction of a recreation centre.     However, an Islamic human rights organisation, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has stepped into the matter. In a press release captioned ‘Has Makinde Seized Bodija Muslim Praying Ground?’, the human rights group sought to know the true position of things and asked Governor Makinde to clarify his government’s stand. SALAH: MURIC APPEALS TO LAGOS EXAM BOARD TO SHIFT ENTRANCE EXAM FROM SALAH DAY

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has appealed to the Lagos State Examinations Board to shift one of the dates of its Entrance Examination into Lagos State Model Colleges which falls on 19 th  July, 2021. The group argues that 19 th  or 20 th  July are still being considered for the Muslim festival of Id Al-Adha while neither date has been confirmed.     The appeal was contained in a statement issued by the director of the organisation, Professor Ishaq Akintola.     The statement reads:   “T he Lagos State Examinations Board has set aside 15th – 17th and 19th July, 2021 for the conduct of Year 2021 CBT-based Screening Test Entrance Examination into Lagos State Model Colleges. ATTACK ON MUSLIMS IN OSHOGBO: MURIC DEMANDS JUSTICE

An elderly man, Alhaji Moshood Salahudeen, was killed while 14 other Muslims sustained gunshot and cutlass-inflicted injuries on Sunday, 26 th  June, 2021 when masquerade (egungun) worshippers of the traditional religion attacked members of the Qamar ul-Islam Society who were holding a programme in front of their mosque at Oluode Aranyin, Ita Olookan area of Oshogbo, Osun State.     Meanwhile an Islamic human rights organisation, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has condemned the killing. NARD faults FG’s health workers’ hazard allowance increase, says it’s a joke

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has faulted the Federal Government offer on the increment of hazard allowance for health workers in the country, describing it as a joke. According to the association, the increment is nothing compared to the hazard faced by health workers in the country. The government had offered to increase the hazard allowance of N5000 for all health workers in its health establishments in the country by 350 percent and 600 percent for junior and senior workers respectively. The Federal Government also agreed to increase the retirement age of doctors and other health workers from 60 to 65 years and 70 years for Consultants. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, announced these on Tuesday night after a meeting between the Federal Government and representatives of all the professional bodies and unions in the health sector. HIJAB: OAU MUST INVESTIGATE HARASSMENT OF FEMALE MUSLIM STUDENT – MURIC

  An Islamic human rights organisation, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, to investigate the circumstances that led a Muslim parent to withdraw his daughter from the school after a teacher allegedly harassed the girl.     MURIC’s request was made by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Wednesday, 26 th  May, 2021.     MURIC said, “One of the teachers of the Obafemi Awolowo International School (OAUIS), Mrs. Adeyemo, has allegedly harassed a female Muslim student of the school. The intimidation has made the girl’s parents to withdraw her from the school.     “The girl who was in the habit of using her hijab from home and removing it at the school’s gate (since hijab is not allowed by the school’s authorities) was harassed by Mrs. Adeyemo. Although the girl had removed her hijab as usual at the school’s gate, the teacher still confronted her after she entered the school claiming that she had seen the girl in
