The prolonged matter between the Muslim Students of ISI-UI on denying them their fundamental human rights of voluntarily wearing Hijab and UI- ISI Management and other stakeholders comes up this wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020

This was disclosed by Oyo State MURIC Ambassador, Engr Ibrahim Agunbiade on Sunday 18th October 2020.

The statement reads:

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) and parents of hijab-wearing Muslim students of the International School, University of Ibadan (ISI) will by God grace be in Justice Akintola of court 7, Ring road, Ibadan Oyo State, on Wednesday 21st  October, 2020. By 9:00am, to enforce the fundamental human rights with regards to our religion, and to liberate our children and Muslims who were religiously oppressed, intimidated and coerced in other not to express their faith freedom as guaranteed by the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

You will recall that after MURIC first appearance in court on the 1st of November 2019, presided over by Justice T. Taiwo who recused himself from hearing the case before him due to his closeness to one of the defendant Prof E. B. Ekanola (UI DVC ACADEMIC and Chairman ISI UI governing board).

The case have therefore been handled by another judge, Justice Akintola. (Note: This justice Akintola does not in anyway related to MURIC Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola)

We therefore call on the Muslim ummah not to relent in this struggle and join us to get our children their Allah given fundamental right protected under the law.

We ask Allaah to grant us victory against our enemies (Aameen)

Amb. Ibrahim Agunbiade
