Shortage of Water At UCH Caused by Overhauling — UCH PRO

Following the patients’ complaints of water scarcity that orchestrated the procurement of bags of satchel water for bath, toilet purpose and others, Toye Akinrinola, the Public Relations Officer, PRO for the University College  Hospital (UCH), Ibadan has said that the reason for the current scarcity of water in the hospital is due to overhauling of the entire water system.

Akinrinola disclosed this in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, while speaking with the crew of naijatodaynews shortly after an allegation against the UCH that the patients couldn’t get water to bath and do other things in the toilets.

According to him,”it is true that water supply in UCH has been epileptic in recent weeks”.

“We are overhauling the entire water system. In fact, 5 blocks in the Hospital have been shut down for massive renovation”.

“This hasn’t happened in 63 years.
It is regrettable that our services are being disrupted, but in the next two weeks, we should be done with the renovation”.

Akinrinola appealed to the patients and other public to UCH to be patient with the hospital as all efforts are in pipeline to get the task completed soonest.

In his own corroboration, the Special Assistant to Chief Medical Director(CMD), Adekunle Alao toed the path of Toye Akinrinola, emphasizing that the water system has been in existence since 1957 that the UCH was established.

Adding that complete overhauling of the entire water system had commenced and the blocks which rehabilitation had completed had simultaneously commenced supply of water to the necessary quarters.

A patient who also spoke with naijatodaynews said that he and other patients had been experiencing water scarcity for some days back.

She added that they eventually found out that many of the underground pipes had got spoilt.

Stressing that they have seen the hospital management swung into overhauling of the hospital which comes in form of renovation of the entire system which patients and other public will enjoy after completion.
