Again! MURIC Vs ISI-UI School Hijab case Hearing Postponed

The absence of Justice Moshood Ishola of Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has again stalled the resumption of the adjourned hearing of the hijab case involving Muslim Right Concern (MURIC), some female Muslim students and UI-ISI management was stalled due to absence of judge who was supposed to decide on the matter.

We were surprised when we were told that the case could not come up because justice Ishola will be attending to a State assignment today and therefore, the court will not be sitting today, 10th January,2023.

It could be recalled that on November 22, 2022, the case was stalled due to the absent of the judge.

The hijab controversy between MURIC, the students, parents and the school management started in November 2018, which lead to the closure of the school in the same month. It is fundamental human rights of these Muslim students to use hijab

The Registrar of the court however promised to communicate the next adjourned date through our lawyer once it is given.

Ustadh Ibrahim Agunbiade

Oyo State MURIC Ambassador
