HIJRA: THE LESSONS OR HOLIDAY

As Muslims enter into new hijra year it's very important to note and understand the lessons behind the migration of the prophet Muhammad from Makkah to Al Medina.

As we all know, Muslims have three Eid in which two are celebrated on yearly basis Eid Al Adha, Eid Al Fitr and the remaining one (yaomul jumuah) weekly.

Hijra is part of what Allah has choosed for us to worship Him.

That we should migrate from the land of disbeliever to a Muslim land, that Muslim should move from hinder place to where he can worship Allah peacefully.

Also hijra is used to count the days, months and years. Which was established during the era of Umar ibn khattab.

In our society of today we see people celebrating the first day and first month of the Muslim (New Hijra Calendar). We see some Muslims who see this day as a day of celebration, a day of giving thanks to Allah for them to see a new year. Some even go to the extreme by going to the stadium to march and celebrate the New Hijra Calendar, and some ignorant Muslims and "Alasalatu" also celebrate with them.

Celebrating this day has no basis in Islam, infact is completely bidiah (Innovation) the first day of Muharram isn't distinct from others.

Choosing a day for celebration (That isn't legislated in Islam) is bidiah (Innovation) and the prophet prohibited us from bidiah.

It's important to learn from the prophet Muhammad Hijra from Makkah to Al Medina than to see it as a day of celebration.
