Prof Lasisi delivers UI 538th inaugural lecture




The 538th Inaugural lecture of the Nigeria’s premier university, University of Ibadan (UI) under the auspice of College of Medicine, UI, Ibadan, comes up on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the institution’s Trenchard Hall.

Hosted by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, under the care of the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Science, UI, the Inaugural lecture will be delivered by Professor Akeem O. Lasisi, a distinguished Professor of Medicine, and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Illa-Oragun, in Osun State, Nigeria.

Prof Lasisi’s lecture will focus on the theme: “GENES, JINNS, JINX AND PETER’S TRIAL: UNTANGLING THE DEAFENING KNOT,” and will attract hosts of medical communities and the general public far and near.



According to a press release from the office of the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, the UI inaugural lecture in its 538th series will untangle some mind boggling issues in the medical world with special focus on ‘Peter’s Trial,’ as it features one of the institution’s former Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, UI and the University College Hospital.


Prof Lasisi, until his appointment as the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences, Illa-Oragun, in Osun State has done Thesis in Immunobiology at UI in 2013. He has also undergone numerous clinical and research experiences round the globe including the Otology/Skullbase Base Surgery Fellowship in Chinese University, 2003; the Edinburg General Hospital, United Kingdom 2005 and Visiting Physician at the House Ear Institute, Los Angeles, US among other Research Fellows.

The Faculty has urged medical experts, Academics, Research fellows, students and the general public to be part of the revealing research works by the distinguished medical expert, Prof Lasisi.
