ATTACK ON MUSLIMS IN ISEYIN: MURIC DEMANDS JUSTICE

A Young man, Mr Abdulazeez Suleiman, was wounded with his two wives, while some other Muslims sustained injuries on Sunday, 16th June 2024 when a pastor and his gang  (worshippers who invited uniformed soldiers) attacked them while slaughtering their cow for this year's Salah in front of their house at Barracks area of Iseyin, Oyo State.


A  Press statement issued on Saturday 22nd of June 2024 by the Oyo State branch Ambassador of MURIC, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade. reads:


MURIC Oyo State Chapter has watched with great shock and gloom the viral video trending on social media, that contains dastardly acts of harassment and humiliation perpetrated by a pastor and seventeen barbaric and heartless soldiers on the personality of Mr Suleiman AbdulAzeez  when he was slaughtering  sacrificial animal for Eid Adha celebration in his compound on  Sunday 16th June 2024.



MURIC confirmed that the main suspect is one, Damilola Stephen a.ka. 'Recruit Soldier' and other seventeen soldiers. The group further noted that Recruit Soldier is the son of the pastor of C.A.C Oke Imuse. Pastor Busari Stephen who was earlier reported to the police by the community for noise pollution and environmental disturbance.


The Islamic human rights organization called for the arrest and prosecution of Pastor Busari Stephen and his son, Damilola Stephen. The human rights organization also warned that the case must not be swept under the carpet. 


MURIC  Oyo State branch calls on the Oyo State Commissioner of police for the arrest of the culprit, it maintained that justice must not only be done in this case, it must be seen to have been done.


MURIC Oyo State Chapter also appealed to Muslims in the state to refrain from attempting any reprisal attack.
