3rd July, 2020   PRESS RELEASE:  EDE FURORE: MURIC WADES IN  The Nigerian social media has been awash with reports of the destruction of the Muslim Hospital, Ede by a popular thug who goes by the name Ayo Olawuyi, a.k.a. ‘A.Y.’. The suspect went berserk when his brother, Mutiu Olawuyi, whom he brought to the hospital in a critical condition gave up the ghost. He beat up the doctor and destroyed the hospital building and equipment. Reacting to this incident, an Islamic human rights group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has described the suspect’s attitude as bohemian and barbaric. This was revealed in a press statement issued by Professor Ishaq Akintola, Director of the organization on Friday, 3rd July, 2020. Published June 30, 2020 | By akintola 1st July, 2020 PRESS RELEASE: MURIC TACKLES NCC, GLO, ON SIM REGISTRATION An Islamic human rights organization, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has taken the National Communications Commission (NCC) to task over an incident in a Lagos GLO customer office which occurred on Monday 15th June, 2020 in which a Muslim lady, Mutiat Oba, was subjected to religious stigmatization. The group wants NCC to make a categorical statement on the manner of use of hijab by Muslim women during sim registration. MURIC made the demand in a press statement signed by the Director of the organization, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Wednesday, 1st July, 2020. Records made available by the Oyo State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinola Ojo, confirmed that the state government has provided support to the UCH and the Department of Virology located inside the College to the tune of the said sum. The message concisely gave details as DSTV Channel 345 & GOTV Channel 28 and described the channel as a home grown (Naija), quality, educating and entertaining Ramadan pop-up channel, (I wonder what entertainment is in Ramadan). That it will be on air from 2nd of May till 4th of June, 2019. The message went further to explain that the channel is a 24/7 to watch throughout this year’s Ramadan 1440AH/2019AD.
