Osun Governor To Turn Sod For Start Of Faith-Based Fortress University



Osun State governor Adegboyega Oyetola is to turn the sod on Saturday 8th Of May  for the construction of a faith-based Fortress University in Iwo.

Proposal for the Islamic university emerged in January 2020 after the Academic of Islamic Propagation convened its 25th anniversary.

The founder and national president of Academy of Islamic Propagation  (ACADIP) Yusuf Adepoju said the university was set up to contribute to knowledge development as encouraged by Islam.

“A group of scholars is drafting Fortress University academic brief, these scholars include serving vice-chancellors of top universities and professors, drawn from different higher institutes of learning home and abroad,” he told a press conference in Osogbo.

“The world should expect an unprecedented road map in Fortress University Academic Brief, with innovations in courses to be offered and even in terminologies.

“These scholars are committed to producing an Academic Brief that seeks to bridge the gap between classroom theoretical works and the practical real-life experiences.

“The At the moment, the survey of the proposed university site has been done, topography has been completed and the scientific soil test has also been carried out.

“These are the basis upon which the master plan of any university will be designed. This is currently being handled by civil engineers, surveyors, architects and other urban and regional planning experts,” he said.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, and prominent sons and daughters of Iwo are also expected to be at the turning of the sod.
